BROWSER COMPATIBILITY TESTING.....make sure whether your website is compatible or not??

What is browser compatibility testing in software testing??

In software testing browser compatibility testing is a type of testing in which is used to ensure compatibility of the system/product/software/application or website which is built with various other objects such as various hardware platform, operating systems, users and other specific requirements.

It is a type of functional testing which enables a person to find out how well your product/software or application performs in a specific environment. It actually involves the testing of the required product or application built in the computing environment.

There are a number of browser compatibility testing tools present in an online market which we can efficiently use to test the compatibility of the browser that whether the browser you are working with is compatible with the required components and operating system or not.
some of the tools are Ghostslabs, Sauce labs, and CrossBrowsingTesting etc.

Sometimes it would happen to you also that you are trying to access a particular website but it will also prompt you to call technical support. While they simply tell me to do the required job by using another browser. When I do so and yeah the problem is solved. It is just a case when the website you are currently accessing is not compatible with your operating system or you can say that you are not done with the browser compatibility testing.

Browser compatibility testing is also known as cross browser testing.

  • It  simply means testing a particular website or application in many browsers in order to make sure that at client side the user need not to call any technical support and thus making no compromise with the product's quality.
  • Browser compatibility testing  is applicable to both mobile base applications as well as web base applications.

There are a number of reasons for what a particular testing is to be done. Some of the reasons are described below:
  • To know what is wrong in the system and are we able to fix it or not??
  • To check the functionality and working of the system/application or website along with assembled hardware components, and current operating system.
  • To enhance the efficiency and traffic of the website. The more the website compatible with the number of browsers, the more it will be accessed by the users.
  • To check whether, the appearance of the website is same on different browsers or not?? If not what differences are there?
  • It is also performed in order to check the backward compatibility and carrier compatibility.

This is all about some basics of browser compatibility testing, in next post I am going to post how browser compatibility testing is performed. For more information please visit  http://www.precisetestingsolution.com/ and till then keep testing....
